Story

Lisa and Robert, Fiona, Laura (Nev’s son and daughters) wish to fundraise for St. Oswald’s hospice and are hoping to raise £1000 in his memory. During Nev’s 20 day stay at St. Oswald’s hospice it was an enormous comfort to all of the family to know that he was being looked after in such calm, tranquil surroundings and by such dedicated and caring people. We were impressed by the devoted professionalism and cheerfulness routinely shown by all the staff, from the doctors and nurses to the volunteers and catering staff.  A particular favorite was the three course meals and the occasion Guinness that made Dad feel relaxed. As a family we frequently spoke highly about the support the staff gave to Nev and family and hope to raise funds so they can continue their amazing work.

Thanks to all those who have donated so far, you have been very generous and thank you for your lovely comments.

Neville's Story

On the 27th January, Dad (aged 53) was admitted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary A&E with severe migraines and unable to speak.  He had no symptoms prior to this.  A few hours later, we were informed that he had a brain tumour, and within two days he had the tumour removed.  A week after, we were hit with the devastating news that he has a Grade 4 brain tumour (Glioblastoma Multiforme) that is incurable with a poor prognosis. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy halted the growth with Dad has remained positive despite the situation.  Due to complications Dad was admitted to St. Oswald’s hospice on 11th May 2016 and passed away peacefully on Tuesday 31st May. This is such an awful illness that has devastated us all and would greatly appreciate if you could reach into your pockets and donate to St. Oswald’s hospice.
