Great North Run 2023

Great North Run 2023 · 10 September 2023 ·
I am running the Great North Run 2023 in memory of Neva Pheely. Mine and Matthew’s second beautiful baby girl who unfortunately was just too poorly for this world and passed away just under half way through our pregnancy journey.
After extensive tests, Neva was diagnosed with Turner’s Syndrome and Hydrops Fetalis. This resulted in many many different things, but fatally, excessive fluid and a heart that hadn’t formed correctly. During the midst of a spring snowstorm, our beautiful snow Angel was born on the 9th of March.
After Momma and Daddy cuddles, we snuggled Neva up with her big sisters blanket and teddy into an Abi Cooling Cot and got to spend 2 precious days with our girl. We couldn’t be more grateful for Abigail’s Footsteps.
The Abi Cooling Cot has been designed and manufactured by them to enable parents like us to spend every second possible with our poorly babies, to create memories, to cuddle and have photographs to cherish when we inevitably leave the hospital empty handed.
For anyone that knows me, knows that after training for the London Marathon 2020 I severely damaged my knees and haven’t been able to run since. Physically, this challenge is going to be really tough. But, it keeps me awake at night thinking, why should we be so lucky to experience that incredible precious time and other parents not?
Unfortunately, the Abi Cooling Cot costs £2,800 to build and due to funding, not every hospital has one. And we believe that EVERY hospital should have one, or two, or three!
Therefore, we are aiming to raise the whole £2,800 to have an Abi Cooling Cot manufactured and distributed to a hospital in need, in memory of our little girl.
If you can support in any way, we would be eternally grateful.
Abigail's Footsteps help in many ways, from creating sympathetic space for parents in hospitals, to providing much needed equipment for parents to spend longer with their babies whilst also offering specialist baby loss counselling sessions. Please help us raise vital funds by supporting our team to complete this challenge, whether you give a little or a lot it makes a huge difference.Thank you.
