Story
The Joshua Tree provide bespoke programmes of support to improve the emotional well-being and mental health of all immediate and extended family members who are affected by childhood cancers, across North-West England and North Wales, for as long as they need it. In taking on the challenge of a lifetime it will help The Joshua Tree continue the support to families affected by childhood cancers.
This is very much a personal and emotional challenge following Fynle's diagnosis of a Medulloblastoma Brain Tumour in May 2019 aged 7. The Joshua Tree provided immense support whilst we spent months and years at Alder Hey. The support, counselling and wellbeing mechanisms that Fynle's older sister at a very age sensitive time, ensured her transition from primary to high school was unaffected.
"WE HOPE THAT THE JOSHUA TREE CAN MANAGE TO CONTINUE THIS EXCELLENT SERVICE. THERE IS SUCH A CHASM BETWEEN BEING OFF TREATMENT AND BEING WELL IN THE TRUE SENSE OF THE WORDS. THE AFTER TIMES WERE HARDER THAN WHEN MY SON WAS ON TREATMENT – AND THAT’S SAYING SOMETHING!"
