Story
For our parents, leaving their poorly babies to go home is heart-wrenching - not to mention impossible for those who live far away. We have two bedrooms available at the Neonatal Unit for parents to stay over. We want to offer more! But to do this we must raise money.
We currently have a small area for families to sit, and a small kitchen, neither of which are big enough to accommodate all our parents. We believe that - like the babies who are cared for and treated on our unit - our families deserve the best. We would like to refurbish and extend all our facilities to make the unit a true home from home. Nothing can prepare families for their time on the Neonatal Unit, but we can make it that little bit more bearable.
Parents often have to travel long distances each day, sometimes for weeks or months at a time, just to be with their baby in hospital. Many families are exhausted and sleep on a chair next to their baby's incubator. Parents whose baby's are critically ill need a comfortable place to stay which is close by to their baby or a private comfortable space to have cuddles and make memories with their baby during their final days. One of the aims of the Super Babies Appeal is to extend the current family accommodation to ensure more parents can be near their babies at all times. Your donations will help make this extension become a reality. Thank you for taking the time to read this story x
