We’re stepping up to stop blood clots
We’re doing more than getting our steps in – we’re walking over 24 miles on September 10th to raise funds and awareness for Thrombosis UK. We're asking our sponsors to help us smash our target of £2,400, just £100 for every mile we complete.
Thrombosis UK was nominated as Neo’s charity partner after the passing of our dear colleague Stephen Toulson in 2020, who died of Thrombosis.
One of the best ways to beat Thrombosis is by staying active, so we’ve decided to walk the Yorkshire 3 peaks Yes for approximately 12 hours over the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. That's 24 miles (38.6km) with 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. This isn't a challenge for the faint hearted as participants will be walking almost a marathon's distance and climbing peaks higher than Ben Nevis in under 12 hours!
About Thrombosis UK
The charity works to increase awareness, support research, and extend understanding through education and the sharing of information to improve care for all those affected by thrombosis. Annually, Thrombosis UK offers Research Grants and Travel Fellowships for healthcare professionals and scientists whose study will help improve the experience and outcomes of VTE patients or extend the understanding of thrombosis.
Thrombosis UK’s research strategy seeks to:
- Improve understanding
- Inform prevention, treatment and management
- Protect those at risk and improve the outcomes for everyone affected by thrombosis.
