Story
An initiative to provide aid and relief to underprivileged families suffering from COVID-19 in Lebanon.
Lebanon is in a catastrophic state, with majority of the country depending on NGOs for support.
Where do I begin?
The pandemic is out of control with the number of severe cases and the death toll hitting a new record almost every day. The health care system is collapsing day by day. Hospitals are full and there is a shortage medical staff, oxygen devices, and medical supplies across the country. This is all happening during a long-term economic and political crisis that has been exasperated by the August 4 blast.
In a nutshell - people have no money to withdraw, no food to eat, no government to provide them with aid and support, and now no oxygen to breathe (literally).
I lost my father (Allah Yerhamo) to COVID-19 in Lebanon, 3 months ago. I can’t begin to describe how difficult the entire experience was – especially through the challenges we faced during dad's treatment. This was back in October/November, when daily COVID-19 cases had just started to rise. Today the situation is out of control.
Just picture this: An ordinary citizen in Lebanon, will most likely be rejected at any hospital today due to insufficient capacity. What about those that are underprivileged? Those that are marginalized? Those residing in refugee camps? Those that have no voice?
I have chosen to fundraise for Smile and Olive (Basmeh and Zoutineh in Arabic) - a UK registered, nonpartisan, charity that offers aid, relief, education, and rehabilitation for marginalized communities in Lebanon. The charity is also verified on Just Giving.
From one human to another, I kindly ask you to lend a helping hand in saving a life. I can't do this alone. Basmeh and Zouitneh can't do this alone. Together, we can save (and change) the lives of many that are in need.
100% of donations will be go to underprivileged families suffering from COVID-19. Smile and Olive will be offering:
- Food parcels
- Medications
- Oxygen devise (where required).
