Story
The team at Scorpio, like so many people, are experiencing first hand the tragic effects of family members suffering from Alzheimers - this terrible disease that has such a detrimental impact on previously 'normal' life. They will be cycling 57 miles from London to Brighton on Sunday 16th September for Alzheimers Society, a cause that is close to their hearts.
For the Alzheimer's sufferer, simple tasks become impossible, character can change, confusion and embarrassment can take over and sadness and anger creep in. For the loved ones, heartbreak takes over during the bad days, the desperation that people who we have known our whole lives can no longer say our names, or even recognise us.
Neil Stevenson, Operations Manager at Scorpio, is supporting his wife Susan, who's father Fred Mulford suffered from the disease and has sadly now passed away. He was a well loved and respected husband, father and grandfather.
Jaclyn and Stuart are supporting Bruce McGuire, Stuart's Dad and his loving wife Jill. The well known pioneer and entertainer in the travel retail industry, whose larger than life charisma made him popular and loved all over the world. Jill is supporting and taking care of Bruce with complete love and extreme patience. Even the most simple task in 'normal' life can become so complicated - seeing Jill's love shine through this is truly inspirational, and we believe he will come through it. We still share lots of laughter and they share a truly amazing partnership.
Richard Walford, Scorpio Design Manager, is riding in support, and the rest of Scorpio team are providing support and refreshment!
