Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In honour of my late father, Chris Godwin, I have decided to set myself the challenge of running the Paris 2017 marathon to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
However to do my father real justice, I've decided to skip the Eurostar and cycle from my father's hometime in Essex all the way to Paris (a mere 280+ miles!) in the two days immediately before the marathon!
I will complete this challenge to give something back to the BHF, thanks to whom I managed to spend 13 more quality years with my dad then I thought I would after he fell ill with a heart complaint.
Due to the fantastic work of the BHF he managed to see his children marry, have grandchildren, even to retire himself and enjoy the fruits of his hard work on the golf course and in Spain as a result of their hard work.
Throughout the years BHF have researched and developed techinques to diagnose and treat heart disease. Due their work most babies born with heart defects survive and those suffering from other heart conditions have access to a range of medication to assist.
Heart disease is still the number 1 killer of people in the UK, however through funding research this can be addressed. The chances are you know someone with heart disease and through BHF their chances of survival have been increased.
Whatever you are able to donate will be gratefully appreciated by me and warmly received by the BHF, enabling them to continue their excellent work.
