Story
Richard was my wife Emma's younger brother. He was a very active young man. More active than either of us could ever aspire to be!
In January 2001, he ran for a bus. Moments later, he collapsed and died. He was 19.
We later discovered that Richard had an undiagnosed heart problem - Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Cardiomyopathy is a disease which can affect people of any age, from tiny infants to the elderly. It is sadly a common cause of sudden, unexpected death in young people.
I want to help keep Richard's memory alive by raising money for the Cardiomyopathy Association. They were a valuable resource to Richard's family when John and Lesley were trying to understand the disease that had killed their son, they offer information to newly diagnosed patients, produce literature to help young children suffering from the disease and their friends and schools to understand how the disease affects them, provide information to patients and to doctors and so much more.
They receive no government funding and are completely dependent upon the generosity of people like you. Please donate what you can.
Thank you.
