Story

Hell of a Hill Marathon is arguably the toughest 26.2 miles in the UK, and the toughest 5 consecutive marathons in 5 days in the World - only the toughest dare to challenge the Hill for 5 consecutive days! The mighty Rivington Pike stands 1,191ft tall on the West Pennine Moors, and runners have to pass over the summit a massive 40 times to complete the challenge of a lifetime. A total of 30,000ft of elevation gain (Mount Everest!) and 131 miles of tough stone and mud trail running in the cold Winter months!

WHY WE ARE DOING THIS

For the wonderful, beautiful Bethany Williams. The brightest light that will never go out. Sister-in-Law to Neil Higson and Niece to John Martin, we aim to raise as much money as possible in memory of Beth.

We lost Bethany, aged just 26, in April 2019 - a significant loss to the whole family and to her friends and work colleagues.

Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35 in the UK. PAPYRUS is the national charity for the prevention of young suicide and believes that many young suicides are preventable. They operate HOPELINEUK, a confidential call, text, and email helpline for young people with thoughts of suicide or those concerned about a young person who may have thoughts of suicide. Every £5 raised can help pay for a potentially life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK from a young person wanting to stay safe from their thoughts of suicide. Thank you.
