Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

As many of you will already know, our daughter Lucy has been suffering from Scolliosis and last year underwent major back surgery to correct much of the lateral curvature.  As you can see from the photos, metal rods have done an amazing job of straightening her out and she is looking much better now, though unfortunately still suffering quite a bit of pain and discomfort at the moment. But hopefully that is temporary.

Many of you also generously sponsored me to run the Bath Half marathon in support of the Scoliosis Association last year and helped me raise around £2000 in total. But there was unfinished business! Although I was delighted to finish my first ever half marathon, it was tinged with disappointment when I found out how close I came to running under two hours (2:03:57).  So I entered the Bristol Half Marathon in September to try and break the two hour barrier....and failed dismally, finishing in 2:08:03 .

So, I am hoping you will help provide the extra motivation I need and support research into this crippling condition so that hopefully less poeple have to go through the tough year Lucy had in 2010.  So, my suggestion is, don't donate until I have run on March 6th and posted my time; then donate if I break that elusive two hours.  Messages of support and promises of donations in the meantime though will all help get me round that little bit quicker!

STOP PRESS: TIME ON THE DAY 1:57:03! maybe one day I'll better that when I don't have to run with a hacking cough and a streaming cold!

Thank you so much!
