We provide family-led care and support to children with life-limiting conditions

Story

Thanks so much for visiting my Justgiving page.

There are many worthwhile causes across the country and many pages just like mine however it is only when you understand the reality of life for certain individuals do you get a sense of 'I have to do something to help'.

Many of you guys, like me, will have children. Perfectly normal happy children with the ability to run, skip, hop, jump, learn, eat, drink, and play whenever they want and as they please. We've taken care of them, putting them to bed, getting them up, getting them off to school, most of us getting a good nights sleep to see us through another day 'tomorrow'.

However, some children and their families are not so fortunate.

The things we take for granted everyday for our children, the ability to walk freely, to run, to hop, to skip, to jump, to sleep are things that are just not reality for these families.

This is where Martin House Children Hospice can and do help.

Supporting and caring for over 400 families at anyone time, with approximately 10 family members included in each, the team at Martin House bring sanity, solace, support, and respite for families whilst providing vibrancy, education, wellbeing and fun for children suffering from life limiting disabilities and some who are terminally ill. The hospice is the lifeblood of these individuals. Their mantra '...we may not be able to add days to the life, but we certainly are able to add life to the days...'

The hospice requires funding to the tune of £4.9m each year to meet its running costs and with only 18% recived from statutory sources you can see the gaping hole that requires filling to ensure this haven continues to provide the support and care it does.

This is where you guys come in.

Any donation you can give will help, large or small.

I understand that things are tight, but if we all just go without a couple of pints or a couple of vodkas this weekend and stick the funds in the pot you will help me help Martin House reach the target I've set.

Counting on you guys.

Many thanks for your support in anticipation

Best wishes

Neil
