Story
After a couple of stalled attempts we are good to go for the swim at 11am on Thursday 11th August.
As a charity, Cleethorpes RNLI need all the support they can get to keep people safe off the coast. With more people now enjoying the wonderful coastline this inevitably means more calls for service.
Their fantastic volunteer crew provide 24-hour search and rescue right around the clock.
My charity challenge for 2022 is to swim the Humber Mouth from Spurn Point to Cleethorpes, a distance of around 7km. I will have to navigate the shipping lane(with support of ABP and my support crew) as well as the strong tidal conditions in the estuary.
I took up open water swimming in 2020 and absolutely love the benefits both physical and mental which it has given me. I have swam twice a week every week in the sea or Grimsby Dock for the last year. With some help and guidance from some fantastic swimming pals I have built up to swim 11 miles in one go.
I am very grateful to Alex and Ross from Grimsby Cleethorpes Water Rats who will be providing the safety boat throughout my challenge.
Any support no matter what will be very gratefully received and go a long way to save lives off our coast.
Many thanks
Neil 😊
