Story
In March, around 50 Wigan Athletic fans will be walking 44 miles from the home of Morecambe FC to the DW Stadium in Wigan in support of Joseph's Goal.
Joseph Michael Kendrick is 12 years old and has Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia, a rare genetic disorder that affects one in 60,000 new-borns. The condition is so serious that less than 500 people in the world are living with it. Joseph’s Goal has been set up to raise funds and awareness into NKH.
Whilst the two previous Walks4Joseph have been a resounding success there was a definite absence of flair and flamboyance amongst the participants.
Consequently, this time around I've been added to the match day squad albeit heaven knows how I'll manage it. My requests for regular pedicure pit stops have been rejected by the organisers.
Still, I'll give it a go and all the essentials such as lip balm, bottles of San Pellegrino and Andrex wet wipes have been packed into my manbag for the big event.
It's all for a great cause and so if you could chuck a few quid in then myself, the other walkers and most importantly the charity itself would be highly appreciative.
Thanks in advance.
