Story

Rather belatedly I've decided to do Canal and River Trust's Canalathon Challenge of 26.2 miles The money raised will help protect the nation's 200-year-old canals and the wildlife-rich green corridors they provide.

I'm planning to walk from our home in Bewdley down the River Severn to Stourport, then up the Staffs and Worcs Canal to Wightwick (south of Wolverhampton) which is the distance of a full marathon. My planned walk date is Friday 30th June, and it marks the start of my 70th year celebrations. As many of you will know I've been a canal addict since the age of 15 now and a boat owner for eight years. With inflation and the passage of time the canal network needs more funding if their rich heritage features, flora and fauna, and navigation are to be preserved for all.

Thanks for your support!
