Story
I thought I would share some more information about why I am running the London Marathon next month for the Salvation Army.
Due to the great need at the moment to get our homeless off the streets, the charity are doing a push this year to raise more money in order to help their cause. Their work helps provide a shelter for the homeless and support them in getting off the streets. I can't be the only one to have noticed the increase in the people sleeping rough not only in our city but all over the country.
The charity are also trying to raise money to reopen the gates at the famous Strawberry Fields. They want to make it a place that will provide sustainable employment opportunities for young people with learning disabilities. It will be a new hub offering training, skills and valuable work placements which will provide real employment prospects.
They hope to open the gates to the public for the very first time with an authentic exhibition dedicated to the story of the place, the song and Lennon’s early life. Or for the public to simply enjoy a new destination with tranquil gardens to visit, enjoy lunch and explore.
The money I raise will be split between both of these causes, the more I have spoken with the charity and read about their work for both of these projects, the more I want to help them. Anything you can spare to donate will be very much appreciated, not just by me, but the homeless guy/girl it may help get into a flat, or the young person with learning difficulties get a job in the future. That's enough to make me run even if it kills me off.
