Near and Far Charity Bike Ride 2009

Back Ground to the event
The Near & Far Charity Bike ride is a 4200 mile bike ride through 12 countries over 3 months in order to raise funds for both Cancer Research UK & WaterAid International.
Why Cancer Research UK & WaterAid?
Cancer Research UK
In October 2007 one of our team members was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer.
To this day there is no known cure for Metastatic Renal Cancer, only pallative treatments to help people live longer & deal with the side effects of those treatments.
This is also the case for many other forms of Metastatic Cancer and with Cancer directly affecting 1 in 3 people this is quite possiby one of the biggest threats to modern society.
It is for this reason that Charities such as Cancer Research UK need all the funding possible to sponsor the clinical trials of future drugs.
Water Aid
Over the last 2 years our rider James Mannell has spent a lot of his time traveling the world by bike & throught his journeys he has found that once you are outside large urbanised cities the hardest thing to come by is safe drinking water.
In 2006 the World Health Organization estimated that 1.8 million people across the world die from ilnesses related to drinking unsafe water.
Water aid aims to provise safe drinking water, sanitation & education to the poorest communities across the globe.
Water Aid estimates that it costs just £15 per person for these life giving resources, so even a very small contibution can make a real difference to their cause.
With your help we can support these Organisations who help relieve the suffering of millions.
