I found out I had Hodgkin’s lymphoma at age 25—but was told it was the “good” kind of lymphoma and that I had great odds of recovering. Two months into treatment, those odds changed. I wasn’t responding to standard chemotherapy and my lymphoma began growing out of control.
I underwent salvage chemotherapy and a successful autologous stem cell transplant, but relapsed a year later. This time I would need a transplant from a donor—but no donors on the existing registries were a match.
With no traditional options left, I enrolled in a clinical trial of a novel drug. Miraculously, it worked and I went into complete remission.
Now, I tell everyone faced with a cancer diagnosis two things: Never give up the hope that comes from within, and never stop looking for the hope that comes from a science lab.
I was introduced to LRF through my oncologist and was so grateful to know there was an organization out there focused on patients and survivors like me. From their peer-to-peer support network to the groundbreaking (and life-saving) research they fund, I couldn't be more proud to be an LRF Ambassador.
I'm sharing my story today to provide hope to other patients and survivors and I'm fundraising in support of life-saving science. Please join me on the frontline in the fight against lymphoma.
