We provide emergency medical care worldwide to people affected by conflict & disasters.

Story

I’m solo hiking 57 miles over 4 days with my dog, to fundraise for Ukrainian people and their pets. I'm walking the length of the Cowal Peninsula in Scotland, beginning at Portavadie in the south, and up through the peninsula to end at Inveruglas at Loch Lomond, passing through the communities of Tighnabruaich, Glendaruel, Strachur, Lochgoilhead and Arrochar. I’m camping along the way, carrying everything I need for my dog and I on my back.

I'm hoping to raise money for two charities, so if you would like to donate to a specific charity of the two, please click above on the '57 miles for Ukraine' TEAM link, and you can then choose which of the two charities to donate to. Your donation will then either go direct to MSF - Doctors Without Borders, or direct to Underdog International. You can read about these two charities below.

MSF:

In late February 2022, attacks by Russian forces on multiple cities in Ukraine have since led more than 4 million people to become refugees.

As war spreads throughout Ukraine, people are fleeing the country. They are exhausted, scared and many are suffering from dehydration or hypothermia. Our teams in Ukraine have had to suspend our usual medical activities.

We are now scaling up our emergency response in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries. In addition to Ukraine, we have teams responding in Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Russia and Belarus.

Underdog International:

We have vans leaving weekly with supplies direct to the borders and into Ukraine, plus we have used funds raised to buy urgent aid requirements locally.

Donations raised will go towards our General Fund which allows us to deliver medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare in over 70 countries around the world.

Statistics so far:
So far, with our partners, we have:

  • Received over 15 tonnes of donations from UK supporters

  • Sent 7 trucks full of aid, so far, with minimum of three vans leaving per week

  • Provided funding for over 1,000 crates for refugees in camps with pets

  • Funded the cost of over 200 pet passport for refugees travelling with their pets

  • Rescued over 450 animals from within Ukraine, with more coming each day

  • Our Amazon Wishlist was open for 24 hours and we received over 2000 parcels

  • Funded hundreds of bags of food, vet and medical supplies and baby supplies locally

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
