Raising money for Syrian Refugees so that I can deliver your aid in person on the Turkish/Syrian border · 18 October 2014
Syria Emergency Appeal 2014 - From 18th October – 31st October 2014 insh'Allah I will be visiting the Turkish/Syrian border province of Hatay in Turkey to distribute aid to the Syrian Refugees and see at 1st hand the great work Penny Appeal are doing on the ground. To this end I am humbly endeavouring to raise vital funds to alleviate the suffering of Syrian Refugees. I am personally covering my own costs (travel, accomodation & food expenses).
I visited Syria in 2006 on a personal holiday with 2 other friends and was taken aback at the wonderful hospitality we received from the Syrian people. I am greatly saddened by what is currently happening in the country so I thought I'd make my small contribution with your support. I am an Penny Appeal Ambassador and most people will probably remember me as the crazy guy who ran the Leeds 10K Run whilst fasting 19 hours during Ramadan Kareem (July 2014) in the process Alhamdulillah with your donations raising over £5,000 for Syrian Refugees and Displaced Palestinians in Gaza.
More than 9 million Syrian people have fled their homes due to the on-going conflict and over half of this number are innocent young children. This number continues to grow with the conflict showing no signs of ending. Given recent events the situation is getting worse.
Three years into the conflict, and with 8,000 refugees still crossing the borders every single day, the Syria crisis is the worst the world has seen in decades. Just last week over 160,000 Syrian Refugees crossed into Turkey in just 2 days! It is estimated over 1 million Syrian Refugees are in Turkey alone!
Penny Appeal is working with local networks on the ground to identify and help vulnerable families, who can’t get into refugee camps due to overcrowding, and provide them with essential food, household items and medical aid.
Our food packs are specially designed to support a family of around six for a complete month and give them nutritious foods that they are used to eating. The household pack provides essentials we take for granted, which include toiletries, blankets, and other basic hygiene items, like nappies for babies and sanitary goods.
The medical aid we provide consists of standard packages of drugs and medical equipment for families, designed to be used in a variety of emergency situations to prevent disease and treat injuries.
Your generous donations will go towards the following:
£50 Provides a family of 6 with a Food Pack
£100 Provides a Food & Household Pack
£300 Provides Food & Medical Aid
