Nazim's Leeds 10K Run for Syria & Palestine (whilst fasting for 19 hours)

Leeds 10K Run for Syrian Refugees (whilst fasting for 19 hours) · 20 July 2014
Whilst undertaking a 19 HOUR FAST on Sunday 20th July 2014 I will be taking on the Leeds 10K Run to raise vital funds to alleviate the suffering of Syrian Refugees and displaced Palestinians. The challenge will be both physically and mentally draining as I will have no access to water, my struggle is nothing in comparison to the plight of the Syrian Refugees and displaced Palestinians. Your donations will give me the strength to complete the Run, so please be generous since every penny really does count.
In late October 2014 God willing I will be visiting the Turkish/Syrian border to distribute aid to the Syrian Refugees and see at 1st hand the work Penny Appeal are doing on the ground.
I visited Syria in 2006 on a personal holiday with 2 other friends and was taken aback at the wonderful hospitality we received from the Syrian people. I am greatly saddened by what is currently happening in the country so I thought I'd make my small contribution with your support.
Three years into the conflict, and with 8,000 refugees still crossing the borders every single day, the Syria crisis is the worst the world has seen in decades.
Penny Appeal is working with local networks on the ground to identify and help vulnerable families, who can’t get into refugee camps due to overcrowding, and provide them with essential food, household and medical aid.
Our food packs are specially designed to support a family of around six for a complete month and give them nutritious foods that they are used to eating. The houshold pack provides essentials we take for granted, which include toiletries, blankets, and other basic hygiene items, like nappies for babies and sanitary goods.
The medical aid we provide consists of standard packages of drugs and medical equipment for families, designed to be used in a variety of emergency situations to prevent disease and treat injuries.
It has been well over 3 years now and still Syria is in turmoil. Thousands of lives have already been lost in the violence and the death toll is rising daily. The numbers are staggering; Well over 160,000 killed (conservative estimate by the United Nations)
Over 10 million Syrians (half the population!) need humanitarian aid
Over 4 million children need humanitarian assistance
Over 4.3 million Syrians are internally displaced
Over 1.5 million refugees in the neighbouring countries, about 75% of whom are women and children
Roughly 75% of the country has very limited access to water
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help me to help the Syrian Refugees
