Story
Hi! In October 2022 (after several levels of postponement due to You Know What) we're cycling the Three Seas Challenge to help Nazareth Hospital provide culturally sensitive pastoral care to patients and staff in the home town of Jesus. The population are mainly Arab (Muslim and Christian), but also Jewish people and those of other or no religious affiliation.
They're good at this - over 160 years of unbroken service to the people of Israel-Palestine - the oldest hospital in the State of Israel, and one of the most famous, for its fascinating history and legacy of cross-community service.
My first visit to Nazareth was in 1993 as a medical student on my 4th year elective study period. I fell in love with the hospital, the people of Israel-Palestine, and the beautiful countryside. Although my original religious beliefs changed considerably, I still like to think of myself as at least an honorary Nazarene, and I owe a lot to this crazy little Arab city - the home of Jesus's closest modern day relatives.
I'd love you to support our bike ride - 350km from Tel-Aviv to Nazareth, via Jerusalem and Jericho, through some amazing and challenging countryside. No donation is too small. As everyone rebuilds after Covid, your donation will help the pastoral care team as they work with patients and staff and the wider population in Nazareth, promoting mental wellbeing, mutual understanding, and building the sort of community resilience that leads to peace in a region that has its problems, both internal and external.
I'm fundraising through JustGiving, which considerably reduces costs for the Nazareth Trust, meaning your donation goes directly to the project. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate.
Thank you!
