Story
It is estimated that 2 in every 5 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer. For those living in rural communities, sometimes hours away from the nearest treatment centre and support resources, cancer can be an expensive and isolating diagnosis. Each donation made to the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre helps to provide local support to those living with cancer, and their caregivers. It provides the self esteem that comes with receiving a custom wig after chemo. It provides the feeling of belonging that comes with joining a support group or exercise class. It provides the physical relief that comes with a massage while in treatment. It provides the peace of mind that comes with not worrying if the cost of gas to get to treatment or enrollment in an experimental life-saving therapy will need to come at the expense of your children's birthday presents or after-school activities. Each donation provides an opportunity to not let cancer derail every bit of normalcy in one's life.
