Story
This summer, I'll be spending time in London for HM Platinum Jubilee. What better opportunity to set some time aside and honour the men and women of HM Armed Forces, both past and present?
Waterloo: Uncovered is an amazing programme that combines modern-day veteran's care with historical scholarship by inviting veterans to take part in real, meaningful archaeological projects. Not only is it literally groundbreaking; it draws a connection between past and present that is invaluable both for the field of history and the nation as a whole.
That's why I'll be visiting numerous military memorials while dressed as a soldier from 1815! Not only Napoleonic era pieces, but memorials and monuments commemorating British military sacrifice throughout the nation's history, from the early 18th Century up until the 21st. I'm hoping plenty of people ask me questions along the way! But if not, I can at least make a video about it to get people talking!
By sponsoring my challenge, you'll be funding five veteran support programmes run by Waterloo: Uncovered in 2022. Help those who served their country when they need it the most by donating to my challenge today. Find out more about the charity's work here: https://www.waterloouncovered.com
Edit: Unfortunately as it turns out, I won't be able to do this event in kit. Very sad. But on the bright side, it will be a public meetup! If you're reading this you probably already know that. But if not, see the 'community' tab on my YouTube page for details! Long story short, we're going to walk together after meeting up at the Duke of Wellington statue across from Hyde Park Corner at 1pm on the 11th of June!
