Story
"Waterloo Uncovered" is a fantastic charity which blends historical research with veteran care. Archaeological digs like those done by "Waterloo Uncovered" help to make history more approachable for us all, and especially for soldiers. What better way is there to help a soldier understand the significance of their sacrifice than by connecting them so personally with the sacrifices of the past, which continue to shape the world today?
I'm taking part in the Waterloo Uncovered "1815" Challenge because theirs is a brilliant and novel mission which does so much good in the world on many different levels. Besides- I need an excuse to buckle down and actually get some writing done! I tend to procrastinate far too much, otherwise... So I'll be writing 1,815 words a day, or 56,265 words by the time the drive is completed! That will mostly, if not entirely, come in the form of scripts for future YouTube videos. But I may use it as an opportunity to get back into some creative writing, too!
From Waterloo Uncovered: "Waterloo Uncovered combines world-class archaeology with a programme of care and recovery for veterans and serving military personnel suffering from some of the physical and mental impacts of their service. Since 2015 the charity has been excavating on the site of one of the world's most famous battles - Waterloo in Belgium. Due to Covid-19, (we) have been unable to visit Waterloo this year, and are instead running four Veteran Support Programmes in place of their excavation."
