Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On the 29th May 2023 a group of local people of mixed age and ability are taking on the gruelling National Three Peaks Challenge, with the aim to complete in 24 hours! We are scaling the three highest mountains in the UK, starting at Ben Nevis at ~4am and then following on our journey to Scafell Pike and then finally Snowdonia.

Our aim is simple, to raise as much money and awareness as possible for The Good Shepherd Centre, based in Keighley.

The Good Shepherd Centre aims to empower, engage and educate economically and socially disadvantaged people in our town and surrounding areas in order that they may be better able to participate fully in society.

Seeking Courage, Fighting Hate and Finding Belonging. We aim to achieve this every day. We help families:

  • find the courage to embrace their new lives in the United Kingdom
  • fight, report & challenge hate when it occurs through support and providing sanctuary.
  • find belonging through welcome packages, groups and events.

Advice, advocacy and support are offered in the areas of health, education, and social justice.

About the charity

We are a charitable organisation that aims to empower, engage and educate economically and socially disadvantaged people in Keighley and surrounding area. Providing support to local families, refugees and asylum seekers. Most of our work is funded through donations but in the past two years, because the COVID pandemic, we have struggled to fundraise so our funds are running low. Also, due to recent price rises in fuel our monthly costs have gone from £400 per to £2000 so the need to raise money is more important now. If you are able to support our work please make a donation. We would so much appreciate your help. Thank you.
