Story
So in 2020 I had decided to run the Great North run in remembrance of my Grandad, due to circumstances around the world The GNR 2020 was postponed and I will now be running the GNR 2021 in his honor instead
Training has gone fantastic……..NOT, with the fact that the pandemic has still been rife throughout the year I assumed this wouldn’t be happening and decided to enjoy some time on the couch, how wrong that has turned out to be and I guess this last month before the GNR I best pull my finger out!
The story of my grandad is as follows:
He was taken into hospital a few weeks prior to Christmas with not feeling himself, soon after being in hospital he was diagnosed with Pneumonia. He was in hospital for 2 and a bit weeks to which some days he seemed like he was on the mend and them some days not so good, in the end his body was not able to function no more and on the 21st of December he sadly passed away.
Prior to him going into hospital he seemed to be his normal self and even when in the hospital he was still the same man that I had always known, funny, charismatic and just a down to earth guy. From the surprise admission to hospital to him then passing away it has opened my eyes to realize that life is too short and each day we should live it as if it is our last! We just don't know what is around the corner.
Pneumonia is a terrible lung infection which can cause great difficulty when it comes to breathing. It doesn't matter how old you may be it can have detrimental effects.
I have decided to run the GNR this year for this charity, any money which I can raise that can go towards the charity and hopefully help the research and development into the infections/diseases which can be found within the lungs and help to save lives.
Any donations big or small will go a long way in helping me reach my target in remembrance of my Grandad!
So thank you!
