Story
On the 6th of January 2013, the day I had been fearing for a long time arrived. My mum, Kate, was taken from us. A woman who was always positive, always looking to cheer up and care for others even during her toughest moments. She is someone I am honoured to have known and had in my life.
So to signal 5 years since her passing I am giving myself a challenge, I am running 5km every day for the next year, starting on the 7th of January 2018 and finishing on the 6th of January 2019.
As many know sport has been a massive part of my life, not only me taking part, but the majority of my family having involvements in a variety of sports. I have always played sport from a young age and there was no better feeling than playing well in front of my mum and dad and making them proud. But on the 6th of January 2013 I played for a different reason, the afternoon of the day my mum passed, I decided to take my mind off of everything and play football and I wouldn’t change that for the world. Sport has a special place in my heart and so does my mum, so a sporting challenge seemed fitting.
To anyone who donates I thank you endlessly, and any amount is great. But I am giving a challenge back to everyone else, I will donate £2 for every person that runs 5km once a week for the whole year (and provides some kind of proof to me.)
I will be using the Strava running app for anyone who wants to follow my progress over the next year.
