Story
So what am I prepared to do for your support and donations?
Well, after completing the Edinburgh Marathon in May 2009 the Virgin London Marathon in 2010 and not having done anything since then, I have decided once again to get my running shoes on.
I have decided to run two half marathons this time, so still completing the 26.2 miles, but over 2 races. The first race is the Great North Run in September and the second is the Great Eastern Run in October.
So far I have yet to break the 2 hours barrier for a half marathon, the closest I came was during London 2010 when at 2 hours and 2 minutes I hit the half way point. My goal for both these runs is to break the 2 hours mark, and then to improve my time.
I will be running for charity and have selected Macmillan Cancer Support. This is a great charity that works extremely hard for cancer sufferers and their families, providing much needed support during very challenging circumstances for all involved. And, as it happens to be my employers chosen charity of the year, they have generously agreed to match my fundraising efforts pound for pound. This effectively means that for every £1 donation you make, the charity will receive £2 (plus £0.25 if you gift aid this also).
So, please dig deep and help raise a stack of cash for Macmillan!
Thank you ;@)
