Story
I have chosen to raise money for Parkinson's UK because my Grandma had Parkinsons from the age of 60. Parkinson's affects people gradually over time, causing deterioration of the brain. The main symptoms for my Grandma were the involuntary movements in her hands and arms, which meant that she was unable to do the things she loved, such as painting, knitting, and gardening.
Parkinson's is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. Anyone can get Parkinson’s, and there is currently no cure. Parkinson's UK help to support people with Parkinson's and also help to fund research into a cure for Parkinson's. Your donations can help to find research and help support people with Parkinson's and their families.
Not enough people are aware of Parkinson’s or how debilitating it can be. There are over 40 symptoms of Parkinson’s. We need to get them all understood. People experience a huge range of symptoms from pain and stiffness, to problems with sleep and mental health. Everyone’s experience is different, and it can have a massive impact on everyday life.
Together, we can make a difference to the lives of everyone living with Parkinson’s.
- £140 could pay for 5 helpline advisers for an hour, to provide vital support to people with Parkinson's, their families, friends and carers.
- £45 could fund a clinical researcher for 3 hours, so we can test ground-breaking new treatments for Parkinson's
- £28 could fund a device to help track physical activity so we can learn more about the benefits of exercise in Parkinson's
- £18 could help keep brain cells growing in the lab for a day, so we can study Parkinson's and test new potential drugs
