Story
August 2016 Darren was diagnosed with bladder cancer stage 3 he started chemo ASAP which shrunk the tumour down to nothing. January 2017 Darren had major bladder surgery to remove a 3rd of his bladder everything was successful and returned to a good health Easter 2017 back to work as well. He was having 3 monthly check ups and each time bladder was perfect. Jan 2O18 after a check up Darren mentioned pain in his hips they studied the scans more closely and discovered the cancer had now spread into his bones and liver and was told to take sickness retirement and was given 9-12 months. Paletive treatment was offered to slow down the cancer after chemo and radiotherapy and immune therapy Easter 2019 the decision was made to stop all treatment. Sadly the cancer spread to the brain cyber knife radiotherapy was offered which Darren had and the rest of the treatment towards the end was steroids and pain killers so we could get a chance to do the last few things he had a his list. June 2019 the hospice bed arrived at home myself and Annalise cared for Darren with the support of Princess Alice and sadly passed away with me Annalise and Darren’s brother peacefully july 21st 2019. Such an amazing guy who fight for his life for his girls the best he could the Marsden were brilliant which is why we wanted to do the Marsden March with teamwalker in memory of Darren and Andrew.
