Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I want to take a few moments to tell you a little bit more about why I'm doing this Skydive and why we really need your kind donations and support.

St Christopher's Hospice is a charity myself and my family hold very close to our hearts, on 13th July 2011 my Granddad sadly lost his battle to cancer. The type of cancer he had was bowel cancer, also know as colorectal or colon cancer. Nearly all bowel cancers develop in the large bowel two-thirds of these are in the colon and one-third in the rectum. In such a small amount of time, the cancer had spread quite rapidly to his liver which lead to his death.

My granddad was an incredible man, his strength and love will always inspire me Forever. He was a very hard worker, loved a good gossip, loved a bet on the horses, enjoyed a beer and was always on the look out for the jamaican rum, he was forever laughing, smiling, telling jokes and always making others laugh too, but when he was in a bad mood everybody had to know bout it.

As we all know cancer is a horrible disease, my family and myself watched as my granddads health rapidly deteriorated. It's the worse feeling to watch someone you love, so healthy, and active suffer from such a cruel disease.

My granddad, Riley Robinson was taken form his amazing wife, his 7 children, 19 proud grandchildren, 7 Great-grandchildren, and his in-laws who miss and love him dearly.

The most amazing thing about my granddad, is that through all the pain he was going through he never ever complained, he continued to laugh, smile, and keep everyone else smiling and laughing to. He was such an inspiring strong man, his incrediable strength and ability to enjoy life will always live with me.

I am so greatful to have been blessed with such an amazing, inspirational granddad.

St Christopher's hospice Founded by Dame Cicely Saunders in 1967 St Christopher’s Hospice was the first modern hospice, now providing the highest quality care to over 2,000 dying individuals each year on our inpatient wards and in people’s own homes.

It is a registered charity, their vision is of a world in which all dying people and those close to them have access to appropriate care and support, when they need it, wherever they need it and whoever they are.

They serve a diverse population of 1.5 million people in the London boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark, reaching some of England’s most deprived areas. All of their care is provided free of charge. St Christopher’s is an adult hospice caring for patients from the age of 18 upwards.

It costs over £15 million every year to deliver all our services.  Only about one third of our income comes from the NHS. We must raise £10 million to continue to deliver our patient and family services free of charge.
