Story

From the 1st of June I will be walking 15,000 steps every day for all of June to raise awareness for everyone living with diabetes. My brother Jamie, as a complication of COVID-19, unknowingly lived with type 1 Diabetes. Untreated and undiagnosed, this led to Diabetic Ketoacidosis. This means your body doesn't have enough insulin to allow blood sugar into your cells for use as energy. He was unaware and sadly passed away at the age of 30 on the 3rd of February 2023.

If spotted early on this is something that can be managed and treated without fatal consequences, there are 4.8 million people living with diabetes in the UK, the complications of which lead to over 500 premature deaths every week. The funds I raise are vital to support the work of Diabetes UK, I appreciated funds are tight for everyone at the moment so any contribution big or small would mean the world.
