So you're probably thinking that I've lost the plot as I'm not exactly known for my love of running, but this is a personal goal that I set myself many years ago after watching thousands of people torture themselves every year on tv, and it's all about the taking part, right.......?
The chosen charity for this years Great North Run is the Alzheimers Society, which is a great cause. There are over 700,000 people with dementia in the UK with millions of families affected by this cruel disease. 1 in 3 people over 65 will die with dementia.
Alzheimer's Society is leading the fight against dementia by providing information and support for those with any form of dementia and their carers, advising professionals working in the field, funding research, running quality care services, and campaigning for improved health and social care and greater public understanding of dementia.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
