For many parents receiving the diagnosis that their child has Down syndrome is a time of great uncertainty - and many worry about what the future will hold for their child, and their family on this unexpected path.
Auckland Down Syndrome Association provide support and guidance along this wonderful (but sometimes turbulent!) journey provide great connection points for families at any stage of life.
We provide visits to new parents in hospital and coffee groups for carers of littlies, primary school age playdates, education courses for schools, and social clubs for our teenagers and adults. We have an extensive resource library which helps parents and schools with information specific Down syndrome. Our families greatly value the sense of community, and knowing that they are not alone.
