Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

Following recent treatment for Sepsis, this being the second time in my life - I have decided to put on the walking boots for 2 events and raise money for this great charity!

Throughout the month of February I will be participating in the “60 Miles in February” challenge before upping my game and completing a mammoth challenge just under 3 months later.

On the 13th May 2023 I will be completing a continuous 100km hike of the Jurassic Coast, this challenge will see me walking through the day and night – starting at Corfe Castle and finishing in Bridport in the aim of raising some vital funds and much needed awareness for this charity.

Sepsis (also known as blood poisoning) is the immune system’s overreaction to an infection or injury, normally our immune system will fight an infection but sometimes it attacks our body’s own organs and tissues.

❌ Sepsis affects more than 245,000 people in the UK every year, and of these, as many as 48,000 will lose their lives – more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer deaths combined.

❌ 5 people die with sepsis every hour in the UK.

Any money raised from this hike will go to The UK Sepsis Trust, the money will go towards raising awareness of the condition - helping to prevent thousands of deaths and funding their support work for those who have been affected by sepsis.

If you can help support whether this is financially or by sharing and raising awareness it would be greatly appreciated 🙂
