Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Every hour in the UK someone is told that they have Parkinson's. For my lovely dad, this hour was in January 2011. Since then, I've made it my mission to raise awareness of this debilitating and lonely disease as well as funds to support the incredible work that Parkinson's UK does as they tirelessly work towards finding a cure.

With sufferers as young as 20 and as old as 90, Parkinson's is not selective in who it chooses and with physical and mental symptoms the disease dictates the life's of its sufferers and their families. The tremor is the most obvious symptom, but for many this is the least of their physical difficulties. As yet there is no cure. Fundraising for research is the only way that sufferers and their families hold out hope that one day, they can stop this deadly disease.

This year I'm utterly overwhelmed to have 3 brave ladies running by my side. These ladies have no other reason to support me and my family other than friendship. This year for personal reasons (some of you know the reasons why) has been the hardest of my life. These ladies have personally and professionally supported me and their belief in my return has helped me return to my strength and fitness in order for me to help my dad on the 25th of October.

There have been many many days over the last year that the thought of running 10 miles seemed absolutely impossible. Running  1 mile in fact seemed completely unfeasible. BUT I am recovering. At the moment, Parkinson's sufferers have no hope of recovery. I'll be holding this thought in my mind at the start line and no matter how I feel, what aches and pains I have... I'll be crossing that finish line with my dad in my mind and the countless other sufferers.

The SALLIS SOLDIERS are out in force raising money for Parkinson's one step at a time. PLEASE SUPPORT US.
