Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 1st December our beautiful little niece Chloe Alice Hood unexpectedly passed away in her sleep. There is no explanation as of why this happened as she was a perfectly healthy and a very happy little baby girl. She rarely ever cried and was quite happy just to sit there in her bouncer, relax and observe. She cried that little that when she did cry her mum thought it was cute. Unexplained deaths like this is put down to sudden infant death syndrome also known as SIDS. As of yet nobody really knows what actually causes it or why it happens which leaves parents with no answers or reasoning to why their baby has passed away. All tests that were carried out all came back negative leaving no explanation.
Chloe was 14 weeks old and had just started to be more interactive. She spared no time in trying to sit up and had just found her beautiful little smile and started to giggle. She left behind her gorgeous older brother Riley who loved her very much and love to give her cuddles, kisses and occasionally tried to pinch her nose and ears. She also left behind two very proud parents whose family they believed was complete.
Although SIDS has been reduced massively from 1,300 deaths a year due to the Anne Diamond campaign 300 babies still die from SIDS every year in the UK. That’s almost one for every day of the year. The charity we are raising money for The Lullaby Trust works alongside the NHS to promote safer sleep for babies and also offers specialist support for the families that have unfortunately experienced loosing a small child. The Lullaby Trust also supports research to try and understand how and why babies suddenly and unexpectedly pass away.
We have specifically chosen to do a skydive in order to raise money as we are all terrified of heights and believe there’s no point doing something that didn’t require great strength and a challenge to do so. The reason we chosen The Lullaby Trust is because although we have lost our beautiful niece to this horrific cause we can help raise money to potentially stop it from happening to someone else in the future. We also believe more people should be made aware of SIDS as everyone knows it happens but nobody thinks it will happen to them as when having babies people aren’t made aware of it.
ALL MONEY RAISE WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE LULLABY TRUST AND WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE TO PAYING FOR THE SKYDIVE AT ALL AS WE ARE PAYING FOR THAT OURSELVES. We are also going to pay extra to have an extra person to jump from the plane to take pictures and videos to prove that we have actually followed through with it.
The Skydive is booked for the 9th July.
