Story
On New Year’s Eve 2017 our baby girl, Anya entered this world at a gestation of 26+2 weeks, weighing only 2lbs 4ozs having been delivered by emergency C-section due to a non-maternal illness. She was transferred from Whiston Hospital to The Liverpool Women's Hospital in order to receive neonatal care; her chances of survival were extremely slim.
Anya's premature arrival was just the beginning of a journey which our entire family never anticipated taking.
Happily she defied the odds and fought hard to survive and overcome setbacks faced on a daily basis. As the weeks passed Anya became stronger, the setbacks reduced and the milestones increased. After 96 days on the neonatal unit our miracle baby girl was finally able to come home.
A neonatal journey is something you can never be prepared for. You are on an emotional roller coaster never able to anticipate what lies ahead. You learn to deal with each day at a time, accepting that you can never know what tomorrow will bring.
