Story

At 35, my close friend Leon Callon was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer for his age, known as a GIST. Despite being told it was terminal, he set up a fundraising team and (against doctor's advice and all the odds) ran the 2017 Stafford Half Marathon and cycled the Leeds-Liverpool canal.

We lost Leon recently, only 16 months after his diagnosis, on 17th March 2018 💔 His attitude was awe-inspiring; he battled day in, day out for weeks on a brutal final stage chemo plan that most patients can't take beyond 14 days. He suffered through horrendous side effects on a cocktail of drugs, all so he could  prolong the time he had remaining with his family and friends. He truly showed us how every day counts ❤️ and I can't put into words how much I miss him.

If he could lead from the front in this way, I want to challenge myself and raise much-needed funds for the amazing Hospice he chose for his treatment and to care for him (and us) in his final days.

Last year I spent a lovely afternoon cycling with my friend Leanne in Amsterdam and I also rode to a pub in Llandudno (whilst staying in Llandudno 😂) with my boyfriend Kieran - BUT THAT IS IT! So now I'm training for an 81-mile event and I'm blogging for the Hospice! 😎

Follow my journey and please donate whatever you can to this cause; I've seen first-hand how this very special team use the money to care for patients and their families. The Hospice are so grateful for every single pound and your donations will spur me on over my training countdown to 1st July! Thank you 💚💚💚
