Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Having run the London marathon for the last two years (runforjoe.com), I was looking for a different sort of challenge and I found a huge and very exciting one!
The Forces March is one of the UK’s top challenge events which was created to unite civilians with personnel from the military and emergency services to raise funds. Participants attempt to complete five stages in five days. Each stage is at least 26.2 miles in length – 5 marathons in 5 days! The undulating all-road route begins in Ilfracombe, North Devon and passes through Exmoor, the Quantocks, Somerset and much of Salisbury Plain before finishing at The Forces Festival just outside of Bulford Camp, the UK’s biggest Army Garrison.
I shall be walking in memory of my son Pte. Joe Whittaker (4 Para), killed in action in Afghanistan, June 2008, age 20.
Money raised by PROJECT 65 – The Veterans Charity supports individuals affected by injury and trauma resulting from service in the UK armed forces in both recent and previous conflicts. The aim is to support ALL veterans, young and old, serving and retired as well as their families and children.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for any amount, however small, you would like to donate.
