UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to recent changes in my health, I will no longer be able to run the Royal Parks Half-Marathon 2022. I'm really disappointed but I plan to run a half-marathon next year instead! My team are still running, so I will be there on the day to cheer them on. Doorstep Library (www.doorsteplibrary.org.uk)  is a community-focused charity dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children across London and beyond who need our support. With one in four 11-year-olds leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train home and online reading volunteers to go into some of the most under-resourced areas of London to help introduce young children (aged 0-11 years) to the pleasure and benefits of reading.

For us, the ‘happy ever after’ is when we know the power of literacy and the joy of reading are helping a child change their own story for good.

Our wonderful, trained volunteers visit families at home or online every week in term-time. They read with the children and offer whole family support in the form of conversation and signposting to local activities, events and services. By making reading fun, we help the children discover the joy of reading for pleasure which sets them up for lifelong success.

Working for Doorstep Library is a joy. Every week I get to read fun books with funny children. Our families are so welcoming and we have so much fun with books! By donating, you will help us to reach more families who need our support.
