Fundraising for Help for Heroes
Story
Hi Everyone,
I've set up a rolling page which basically means I can collect money for a charity on an ongoing basis, so I'll be doing a never ending list of events on behalf of Help For Heroes.
Why this charity? Well, I find myself thinking more and more about the fact that there are people out there giving their lives and limbs in the name of Queen and country and geopolitical emergencies, whilst people like myself have been cruising through life barely thinking about their responsibility to the nation.
Older generations of my family have lost limbs, taken bullets, and have died for their country - they and their immediate families could all have benefited from a charity like this at the time. I think most people these days can say that they have known or are related to someone who has been injured or killed whilst being on tour/training and exercise.
"Help for Heroes provides direct, practical support to wounded, injured and sick Service personnel, veterans, and their families. This is provided through grants to individuals and other Service charities, capital build projects and support for life at our four Recovery Centres across the UK."
So, if you feel that you can spare a fiver for a worthy cause please do!
The first event I'm doing is the Pembrokeshire 10K at Littlehaven this coming Saturday, then I've got the Gower 10K in November and the Anglesey half marathon in January (all part of the Coastal Trail Series organised by Endurancelife). I'm looking to possibly do a duathlon and a triathlon or two next year, and the Bristol Half again, but I'll keep my page updated with what I'm up to. If you fancy forwarding on to anyone who might be interested that'd be amazing.
