Naomi the Challenge is Ahead!
This is a something that I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl stood on the streets of London spraying stinky Deep Heat onto my SuperDad’s legs as he flew by to quickly hydrate, stretch and speed off again doing one of his many incredibly fast Marathons that have inspired me to do just one! My dad has always been an inspiration and continues to be a man I admire and strive to make proud to this day (and mum too)!
The thought of running anything over a half makes my hips and knees ache and my heart soar into my throat. However, I want and will make my family and friends proud. These thighs and BFG legs can surely get round a few extra miles with my spaghetti legs whirring them on like windmills….”little did I know my knee would be my weak point and let me down”! . So I had to defer my place from 2023 due to an awful knee injury that had me on crutches and unable to run for over a year.
Lots of rehab physio and I am back in my trainers but with both knees wrapped in tape and rest days an absolute must when they hurt too much. I will do this!
So let’s talk about the ‘C’ word…..it’s blinking everywhere. Stealing away loved ones, family and friends, colleagues and even our small furry friends too. We (my lovely family) are living with it day-to-day and weekly chemo is now a part of our family life. My dad is the most amazing man ever to set foot on the planet and so I’m running to get a huge shiny medal to wave under his nose as well as raise cash for Blood Cancer UK. It’s a personal one for us and I don’t need to flash details all over the shop but let’s just say it’s not pleasant, so if you have anything from £1 upwards (go on stick on a £5) and you could chuck into my running pot…..please do. What’s the cost of a pint these days?
Thank you so much xxx
Here’s my chosen charity Blood Cancer UK.
We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
