Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2019 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. One of the first things I asked my team was whether I could continue to run and strength train. My team were dubious about it and even suggested it would be better for me to always rest and take it easy.
Well of course I didn’t do that! On the days I felt well enough I trained the way I wanted and I know it helped me immensely both with recovery and mentally.
The science shows that physical activity before, during and after cancer treatment benefits both clinical outcomes and a patient’s quality of life. We hope that one day physical activity will be part of the normal care package for those going through cancer treatment.
I’m an ambassador for the new and incredible charity Rage IV which is the only charity in the UK offering greats for 1 year FREE access to gym, sports centres or fitness classes during your first year of treatment.
It’s an incredible charity very close to my heart and I want to raise as much as I can for them, especially in these early stages. So I’m challenging myself to do something I always said I’d never do…the Hastings Half Marathon. Yes, I run but I’m a 5km kinda gal and aim for nice flat routes 🤣🤣 The HHM is lonnnggg (for me) and hilly - a huge hill right at the start is already giving me hives. But, I’m excited to train and complete this challenge. If I can raise a few pennies for Rage IV I will be over the moon.
Please give a £1 to a super important charity that needs you!
