Born out of the international crisis of WW1, in 1916 the Royal Star & Garter opened up its doors to care for severely disabled young men returning from war. Forward to 2020 and the world is in another international crisis, now more than ever veterans who were willing to give the ultimate sacrifice need our support. Royal Star & Garter is a Charity caring for veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia across 3 Homes (Surbiton, Solihull & High Wycombe).

My 4 month old daughter (Maryam), my husband and I will be taking part in the 26 mile challenge to help raise much needed funds for the Homes. In line with government advice during the current lockdown and mindful of social distancing we will be walking 1-2 miles a day (during our allocated time for exercise) to raise a minimum of £2000. So please dig deep during this difficult time and for Maryam’s first fundraiser!

£10: will help keep people connected including ipads for residents to speak to their loved ones

£20: will contribute to vital equipment that keeps staff and vulnerable residents safe

£50: will fund time for a health care assistant to provide physical and mental well-being support to a resident

I will be sharing our progress on a regular basis.
