Story
Every year, each of our offices nominate a selection of charities that they’d like to support with fundraising over the course of the following 12 months.
Our Leamington office chose to support Myton Hospice because of the amazing specialist palliative and end of life care they offer for the people of Coventry & Warwickshire.
As part of our pledge to support Myton Hospice, we are sponsoring their fabulous Zip Wire event at Ricoh arena on Saturday 20th July.
Several of our Leamington office staff will also be taking part in the daring zip wire challenge and so we are asking friends, colleagues, insurers and clients to help us by donating whatever you can to support us and this fabulous cause.
One of our Zip Wiring team in particular, Stuart Turner, has a special place in his heart for Myton Hospice and always will. Here is Stuart's story:
Stuart's Story
" Myton has a very special place in my heart and always will. On the 28th May 2013 my wife passed away aged just 32. She spent her last few days as an inpatient at Myton’s Warwick Hospice.
The care we received during her short stay was exceptional but, unbeknown to me at the time, my journey with Myton was only just beginning. In the months after my wife’s death I attended both support groups and one to one counselling. I was also made aware of the child bereavement service that Myton offer, with my son Jamie being just 4 1/2 at the time. It is fair to say that my wife’s death hit me very hard, with my grief combining with severe anxiety and depression. My one to one counselling sessions with Myton continued for many months and were vital in keeping me going at such a difficult time. All of this care and support was provided without any cost to me.
Nearly six years on, I am in a better place, albeit still learning to live with my grief. Knowing that, as a former ‘user’ of the hospice, Myton will always be there for me and Jamie is a huge comfort.
CLEAR (and formally as Heartland) have been a massive support to me too. I have a flexible contract now which enables me to look after my son and be there for him as he grows up, but also still contribute to the team in the office. I was delighted when I learnt that CLEAR were supporting Myton this year and with them being headline sponsor of the Zipwire event in July I simply couldn’t turn down the request to take part (despite not being very keen on heights!).
I would really appreciate your support to make this event a success and to enable Myton to continue to support families like mine in the darkest of times.
Thank you.
Stuart Turner"
