I am going to run the London Marathon in April 2009 for Meath School which is part of the I-Can Charity group.

The reason is very simple, my son Jamie attends this school for children with communication difficulties and I would love to give something back to them for all they have done for him.

I remember how down I first felt when Jamie was diagnosed as being on the Autistic spectrum and suffering with severe speak and language problems. He did not speak until he was 3 and his language was very basic. However at age 5 he joined Meath School and difference they have made to his life is immense. His language has improved greatly and apart from issues with his Autism he is developing very well

For this reason have decided to put something back into the school by sponsoring them for a couple of special programmes they are running.

The money I raise will go towards the evening and holiday projects at Meath School. The projects give children and their siblings' time away from home to help build important social skills, and provides opportunities for the children to make friends with kids in their local community as well as giving families some respite time. It's an amazing project so please give generously.

Without appropriate help, these children would have real difficulty developing the skills they need to learn to read and write, become independent adults and contribute to their community. So every penny you donate really will change lives
