Story
September 25th 2018…
The day our life changed forever.
Our little Myla was 3 weeks old and blue lighted to Royal hospital for children where she was in heart failure with several undiagnosed congenital heart defects.
At that point our lives were turned upside down where we handed our babies care over to Dr Noonan and Professor Danton, little did we know they would become such a big part of our life. 3 days later Myla got her first heart surgery where she spent 6 hours in theatre and thankfully it was very successful. We spent a further 2 weeks in the PICU and ward 1E where the fantastic teams supported us as a family as well as the exceptional care they provided to get Myla well on the way to recovery before we got to take our baby home.
We knew this was never going to be it for Myla, there was further procedures, regular clinic appointments and scans to monitor her other heart defects that would later need surgery.
Fast forward 5 years…
A day we waited so long for, November 10th 2023 is the day Myla’s perfectly imperfect little heart of 5 years became mended for the very first time in her little life.
Myla went through her 14 hour open heart surgery where Dr Noonan, Professor Danton and their teams worked their magic not without some challenges along the way.
What a journey we have had but Myla takes it all in her stride and makes everyone so proud. We will be forever thankful to Professor Mark Danton, Dr Patrick Noonan and the wider cardiology teams for supporting us every step of the way and continuing to do so in to a brighter future.
None of this would be possible without the support of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. The work, support and funding they provide throughout the hospital network is nothing short of amazing and it’s now our time to give back by taking on the challenge of walking, running or cycling 106 miles across the month of June💜
