Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site.

As some of you may know, I have decided to embark on an extreme physical tour in honour of our late friend Douglas Dalzell, who tragically passed away 18th February, 2010, on his 27th Birthday.  Part of our work hard, train harder, play hardest philosophy at Leeds University meant I spent an unhealthy amount of time with DD and Donners (Robert Donaldson) in the gym ‘sculpting’. Hasten to add DD put us both to shame...

Having felt I needed to do something, I decided DD would appreciate it in many ways if I put my body on the line in a gruelling physical challenge taking part in multiple endurance races over the coming 5 months (6 half-marathons, 4 marathons), culminating in an attempt to complete what is regarded as one of the toughest races on the planet:

The Amazon Jungle Marathon
www.junglemarathon.com

The ‘race’ is self-sufficient, requiring participants to carry their foods and provisions during the race, and is broken down into 6 stages over 6 days covering 200km in 98% humidity through the State of Para.
To give you a flavour here is an extract from my welcome letter:

"Should a person be bitten by a snake, the head should be cut off and brought together with the patient to enable the medical team to identify the snake and the type of venom applicable... The most commonly encountered neuro-toxic poisonous snakes are the cobras." I can't wait...

Supporting the 'Lt Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust'

I would greatly appreciate your support in three ways:

1.  Support and donate toward the ‘Lt Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust’ (visit the ‘Lt Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust’ and 'Donate')
2.  Come and join me in any race I’m taking part in (visit my ‘Event Diary’)
3.
Email photos of DD to upload, which will help keep me focused during the intense 5 months of training (visit my
‘Training Schedule’)

The 'Lt Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust' is a seperate strand of the 'Coldstream Guards Charitable Fund' (registered charity number 275062).
